WINNING. I went to a nice jewelry store a couple blocks away to get my necklace fixed, and they just looked at me and said, "Look, I'm probably costing myself a job, but just go over to Bead It, they are a lot more creative." All I needed was to adjust the size of my chain and they did it quickly, and for about 5 bucks.

I've visited Bead it many times before and was dazzled and intimidated by its vast selection of beads, gems, precious stones and things I cant name. I always walked away empty handed since I definitely got the non-artistic clumsy hands even though I got the taste. This weekend, I decided that I want to make my very own necklace, walked into the store and sought help.

Mariam is a petite friendly lady that helped me. I disclosed fully that I'm absolutely a first timer, I don't know how to thread or what I need I just want to make a long necklace that drapes down. She then walked me around the stores and pointed out different types of beads and the price point, made suggestions on how to utilize the "seed beads" in between the pricey jewels/stones and pearls that I wanted to bring the overall cost down, suggested the best kind of thread for the materials I picked out.

Then she gave me a design board where I lay out the materials and "design" what my necklace would look like. In retrospect, this is definitely the most challenging and the most time consuming part. I re-thread and redesigned twice and was very frustrated. However, Mariam and her staff were constantly checking in on how I'm doing and gave me encouragements that this is the process that everyone goes through so my impatience didn't get the best of me.

While I sat in the store and designed my necklace, I noticed how Mariam and her staff interacted with other customers with their requests. Her entire staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They took care (and their time!) in answering questions, suggesting alternatives, asking questions to understand your preferences/problem. During the 4 hours I was impressed that Bead it is more than a bead material store, some customers came in and to had their earrings re-structured, a new charm added to the bracelet and sought advices on how to restore heirloom jewelries etc.

I had a pleasant time at Bead It and if you ever want to take that first step towards making something that's truly you, Bead It is your ultimate resource.

P.S. I now have a beautiful long necklace that's brag worthy! Made with pink pearls, golden petite leafs, and different purple hued stones (this newbie still cant name them)

It's hard to read their sign and not hear Michael Jackson singing the name of this store in your head! Well, maybe it's just me. :-)Bead it is a great place to go if you like to create your own jewelry. They have bin upon bin of different types of beads. Just pick up a tray by the front door and start creating your own masterpiece!All the tools are there to put together a one-of-a-kind necklace, bracelet or earrings and walk out wearing it! It's a fun place for adults and kids alike!

This store is full of beads. Beads of glass. Beads of wood. Beads of stone. Beads of silver. You can spend an hour or so in here just looking at the thousand different kinds of beads. Try taking one of their jewelry making classes, it's fun and it will guarentee an addiction for visiting this store all the time. Amazing selection, helpful staff.

FUN 'lil store with pretty good selection of beads, jewelry making accessories (i.e. clasps, cords, etc.) & tools for the casual hobby jewelry maker (can't comment for professional jewelry artists).

used to come here years ago back in the day, when i used to make necklaces for friends.  used to always come out of the store with a bag of goodies -- lots of colorful beads of various shapes,  sizes & material............. love the set  up of the store, neat & organized.

the assembly station & the friendly & helpful staff ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

today was my 2nd visit back this summer to repair my 2 favorite necklaces that i absolutely adore & can't live without (1 each time) at the assembly station in the back.  the same woman helped me with repairing my necklaces........don't know her name but she was an absolute god send!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!   she was EXTREMELY sweet, patient, professional & knowledgeable!!!! she  really knew her stuff.  i was in awe watching her be so precise (with all her cool tools & knowledge) & absolutely caring & sincere with my necklaces!!!!!

highly recommend going here if you need to fix your beaded jewelry (can't comment on rings or chains)........only if you don't mind working on it yourself.  great deal!!!

definitely recommend picking up some cool beads & going to the assembly station to make your  jewelry (necklace, bracelet, anklet, earrings, keychain).  the staff is so helpful & great guides.........they won't string your jewelry.   but they'll help & show you how to put on a clasp on one side for free for example, so you can do it yourself.  if you want them to do  the other side or have multiple jewelry of the same type of clasp then they'll charge you.............but very reasonable!!!!!!!!!

can't wait to go back to make something...........
