Our Business

 Bead It was founded in 1987, largely due to the encouragement and guidance from my brother and sister-in-law who own and operate their own bead store, Beads, in Santa Barbara CA.

 I was walking along a beach with my mother, Zan, who stated that she didn't want to move to a new place and open a store on her own. I agreed and suggested that we do it together! We shook hands (and hugged) and six months later we were relocating to Santa Cruz CA. and opened Bead It.

We first opened in a really small space (680 sq. ft) and we were bursting at the seams when the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 displaced us. Then we set up in a temporary space (tent city) with other businesses until our current space opened up. We have called this space home ever since.
